Entry No 24:
Our search for proper placement for our son with autism(OCD, ODD, etc...) continues and our local school hasn't been much help, unfortunately.
Long have we prayed for simple answers or at least some correct ones, and yet we seem to be having more conflict that only seems to occur with the school.
It does seem that we are destined to be in a fight for some reason; a fight for our son and for those who are different and don't seem to fit the status quo.
Unfortunately, such battles and such conflicts have a tendency to take a toll on us as parents and we are left sleepless due to the stress and angry at being so manipulated.

Our meeting with them has little to do with finding solutions and more to do with what they saw as the issue:
They see his reactions to the school environment as a power and control issue and decide that it's time for a "get tough" procedure or a "come to Jesus moment" such as calling in two truancy officers who tell our son that he must go to his out classes even though, to him, they are frightening and overwhelming for him. Other times, the idea has been to take him to juvenile hall or to go to the school for kids with discipline issues. Again, more scare tactics for the kid who is scared to even enter the building.
Now, I search the scriptures for a secret strength against this enemy; We need a strength that cannot be taken away from us. For we have been given this child by God just as he has given us the other one and we must fight for his rights and his safety.
That secret strength is there, inside the pages:
"But you, Mortal Man, must not be afraid of them or anything they say. They will defy and despise you; it will be like living among scorpions. Still, don't be afraid of those rebels or anything they say. You will tell them whatever I tell you to say, whether they listen or not." Ez. 2:6-7
We are continuing our long search and our long fight.
