Back to Square 1

My wife and I have a child with HFA(High Functioning Autism).  We struggle  a lot with his symptoms(OCD, ODD ADHD etc..) at home and in public places.

During this school year, we have struggled with getting him through middle school.  Around August, there were times that he would not leave the apartment or the car to go to school. My wife has tried every trick in the book to get him to go with no results.

Around October, it was decided to switch him to the whytry program to help him transition from Elementary to Middle School and for several months, he was okay; after spring break, however, his fear and anxiety about school returned to the point that he wouldn't go out of the apartment to get into the car.

We have tried various strategies to get him to go and still no go.  We called the WhyTry teacher and said that he seemed to have trouble with Social Studies and she said that he only starts having behaviour issues during math, which is his favorite subject.

My wife and I feel trapped by this situation.  We seek answers and no one seems to have them.  We are only parents, just humans-- we're not mind readers.  We can't tell what's happening with him
