Devil Traps, Phasers,a 67 Impala and an Android

Its been awhile since I have posted here on the blog;  Today, I am going to spend a little time reflecting on an odd little deal that my wife and I have made with each other.  We all need a little distraction now and then.

Since the beginning of our relationship, even before we were married, my wife has known that I am a bit of a Sci-Fi nut that watches shows like Star Trek, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica  etc.  For about 18 years, she has not watched Star Trek(she started watching Doctor Who when Peter Capaldi took over the roll.  It might have had something to do with seen him on a snowy roof in 1890s London, wearing a nightshirt and excitedly signing to T-Rex that had traveled with him accidentally).

This past year, thanks to our first born child, she has taken a liking to watching CWs  Supernatural, a show about 2 brothers hunting demons and other supernatural beings with the help of some friends including an angel and a rather cranky hunter named Bobby Singer.   The show is a bit on the addictive side as it happens and has a huge following.

She wanted me to watch the show as well so I could understand like "I don't understand that reference" and 'Idjit" and "Driver picks the music; shotgun shuts his cake-hole!".  So she came up with a little deal which is as follows

I watch Supernatural with her and she will watch Star Trek with me.  I agreed and the deal with sealed with a kiss(another Supernatural reference).

So far, it's been interesting for her to see my take on Sam, Dean and Castiel and its been just as much fun to watch her reactions to Commander Data and Quark, the Ferengi bartender at DS9,

So far, I am on season 6 of Supernatural and for her I have been skipping back and forth on seasons in Next Generation and Star Trek DS9.  I have seen Sam and Dean being tricked by plucky thief named Bella and then go to Hell and she has seen the Captain Picard be assimilated into the Borg  Collective and watch the reaction of Commander Sisko at the loss of his wife at Wolf 359.

Perhaps one day, we will see Sam and Dean having a cup of Raktajino!
